Round Gears

IMPT started providing round gears due to the necessity of each gear rack needing at least one pinion gear for operation.  This pinion is primarily involved in the conversion of linear to rotary motion.

Recently IMPT has made a strategic decision to offer a wider array of round gear types to our clients.  This decision is based on the recent advances made in CNC machining and the capability to implement the 5 axis Closed Loop Gear Machining (CLGM) process.  CLGM allows the manufacture of virtually any gear type on a 5 axis CNC machine utilizing “off the shelf” standard tooling- in many cases saving 16 weeks or more in part lead time due to the lack of tooling lead time.  In addition, the capability of manufacturing a complete part on a single machine in many cases improves the overall part manufacture lead time further due to a lack of delay caused by part machine transfer requirements.  IMPT is at the forefront of implementing CLGM and continues to make investments that will allow us to best support our clients.

Capabilities include spur, helical, straight bevel, spiral bevel and most gear types.  Gears can be manufactured from nearly all typical materials and finished as required.  Parts can also be “cut hard” to minimize post machining hardening and other time-consuming processes.

We can also provide flexible business options to our customers to help manage inventory and cash flow.  Long term fixed price contracts, local warehousing, consignment inventory and JIT inventory planning are just some of the options we currently offer existing clients.  We want to help our clients operate in a manner that allows their business to thrive.
